Well it's no different for any ruminant livestock animals.

THIS IS WHAT WE DO! Our goat need pedicures this week!

Goat hooves need to be done regularly rimmed to prevent injury and disease. If the nails are allowed to grow excessively long, your goat will not able to walk efficiently or correctly.

The goat was properly restrained prior hoof trimming. The hardest part is restraining the goat. There are several ways of holding and restraining a goat in order to care for hooves.

Identifying the anatomy of the goat hoof. Then, trim the nail walls, the overgrown or ragged hoof wall. The finish hooves should be perfectly level.
